Cancer Survivors

Each year, the Avera Race Against Breast Cancer honors all cancer patients by raising thousands of dollars to enhance cancer care right here in our local communities.

We would like to honor cancer patients and survivors on race day by inviting them to participate in the following:

  • Survivor Photo
  • "Survivor Start"
  • Amenities in the Survivor Pavilion

For some, the photos of the Think Pink Ladies are worth much more than a thousand words - they're worth a thousand lives.  Together as one united group with a mission to encourage women to schedule regular breast exams and share their personal stories of survival, these women have become the faces of breast cancer -- humanizing the disease in order to raise awareness throughout the year.

Known as the Avera Think Pink Ladies, each one of these breast cancer survivors carries with her a very important story; her personal survival.  "From the day we are diagnosed, we are all cancer survivors," says Judy Davis, Honorary Chair.  "My goal is to help others in their fight."

Read about our survivors and their personal stories of courage and strength.

If you are a survivor and are interested in joining, please call the Avera McKennan Foundation at (605) 322-8900.
