Avera Race Against Cancer

Every May (the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend)
Races take place across the region, including Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, Marshall, Mitchell, Pierre and Yankton. Whether you choose to walk, run, volunteer or donate, you can support the race — and our neighbors facing cancer — from wherever you are. Each registration or donation to the Avera Race helps advance the compassionate care of patients at Avera Cancer Institute.

Light the Night

Every Fall
Each year, this gala raises funds to benefit patients and families receiving care at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD. Funds benefit the Caring for Life fund for the hospital.

HeARTS in Healing

Every Winter
This annual evening of generosity benefits patients and families at Avera Behavioral Health Hospital by supporting life-changing programs and services. Funds raised help expand therapeutic programs, deliver crisis services and enhance facilities to create welcoming spaces for healing.

The Grand Give

Every Fall
Hosted annually in Yankton, SD, this fundraising gala benefits those receiving care at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital. Funds raised at the event go toward supporting various initiatives at the hospital.

We Care Pink Hair

Every October
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this program benefits patients and families receiving cancer care at Avera Cancer Institute. Anyone in the community can donate to the Foundation to support cancer patients, while also receiving a pink or purple hair extension at participating Avera locations and salons in the Sioux Falls area and beyond. Pink symbolizes support for breast cancer, and purple represents overall cancer awareness.
