Home for Hope
Lodging for Patients and Families
Overcoming illness or disease takes determination, energy and hope. Patients and their loved ones should be focused on healing, not worrying about a place to sleep. Lodging near the hospital lets families stay together for support during a challenging time. Affordable rooms also lift the burden of paying for a hotel when patients face medical bills.
The Home for Hope Campaign, which will double lodging opportunities for patients and families at Walsh Family Village, will provide hope and affordable lodging close to the hospital and clinics for families and patients receiving lifesaving care.
Nearly 60% of individuals served at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center visit from beyond Sioux Falls area. Through your support of the Home for Hope Campaign, you’ll support thousands of patients who receive lifesaving care in Sioux Falls. Your generosity will double the number of suites for families conveniently located next to the Avera McKennan campus.
Growing Need for Lodging
Last year, more than 6,000 Avera patients benefited from the hospitality house as they sought lifesaving care in Sioux Falls. The addition of 13 new patient rooms and the renovation of existing lodging spaces delivers on Avera’s promise of exceptional care beyond the bedside.
When patients’ loved ones can remain nearby during a long period, they provide encouragement and comfort that support recovery. Lodging also reduces the burden and expense of commuting for people who live more than 30 miles from Sioux Falls. Patients contribute only what they can afford for a stay at Walsh Family Village, which welcomes guests regardless of ability to pay.
Home for Hope campaign funds will:
- Add 13 suites and 6,500 square feet to the hospitality house
- Connect two existing buildings
- Renovate existing facilities to provide even more comfort and convenience for those we serve
Most importantly, the campaign will help Avera fulfill its promise to deliver exceptional care at the bedside and beyond, for all those we serve. Join us in providing hope for tomorrow.
